Dental crowns and bridges are custom-made restorations that fit over damaged, discolored, or cracked teeth, or replace missing teeth. They restore function and appearance while protecting the teeth from further damage.
Consult Dena Dental in North York for an expert opinion on whether a crown or bridge is the right solution for you.
A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth.
The bridge is attached to the teeth on both sides of the gap, restoring both functionality and aesthetics. The materials used for bridges include noble alloys, porcelain, or porcelain fused to metal.
Bridges are recommended whenever at least one tooth is missing. A bridge consists of abutments and pontics. The abutments are the supports, consisting of crowns placed on the teeth adjacent to the empty space. The pontics are artificial teeth that span the gap and connect to the abutments.
When teeth are prepared for a bridge, the abutment teeth are prepared for crowns. We will then take an impression of the prepared teeth. A temporary bridge will be placed to protect the teeth and maintain their position while the final bridge is fabricated at a dental laboratory. At your next visit, we will try in the bridge to ensure a perfect fit before cementing it permanently in place.
